OKLAHOMA CITY - A spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office says former Latta High School and SOSU baseball star Nathan Johnson, a competitor in a Toughman Contest who died three days after he won a match, was killed by blunt force trauma.
Johnson, 23, died February 23 just three days after he won a fighting Toughman competition in Oklahoma City.
Toughman contests consist of three 1-minute rounds with a 1-minute rest period between rounds. Fighters wear padded headgear and 16-ounce gloves.
The manner of death was ruled an accident. Blood tests are still not yet complete, and an autopsy was not performed on Johnson.
