Sherman’s newest elementary school

SHERMAN -- School officials in Sherman are giving the public a sneak peak of the city's newest elementary school.

With the classrooms finished, workers must now install furniture and do minor interior work at Neblett Elementary.

A high-tech security system has been installed to monitor who enters and exits the building.

Another new feature of the new school is direct lighting.

When no one is in the classroom, the lights shut off to conserve energy.

"We’re just excited to have a facility like this that we think our students deserve, and we're just pleased our taxpayers have supported us in passing the bond to make this possible for our students," said Sherman ISD superintendent Al Hambrick.

Hambrick says the new school will be dedicated on August 25th.

Teachers will move into their classrooms August 27th.
