OKLAHOMA CITY - A bill that would require convicted meth users in Oklahoma to register with the state has passed the House of Representatives. Oklahoma House Bill 3380 is similar to the state's existing sex-offender registry.

It would be operated by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control. State Representative Randy Terrill of Moore authored the bill. Terrill says anyone listed on the registry would not be able to purchase pseudoephedrine products, a common ingredient used to make meth. Terrill says it will also help residents identify potentially dangerous individuals involved in meth production and distribution.

"Meth is a cancer. It destroys individuals who get involved with it. It destroys the people around them; their family and loved ones. So we have to remain very vigilant and very proactive,” said Terrill (R)-Moore.

The bill passed in the House 95-0. It now moves to the Senate.
