JOHNSTON COUNTY, OK - Three people accused of killing a Murray State College instructor have now officially been charged with first degree murder, and more. Shelby Levins brings us the new information being released in the case.
The District Attorney's office in Johnston County filed the charges this morning. According to the filings we know now how the three suspects allegedly killed Jane Bullard - state prosecutors say the three beat Bullard to death with vases and their fists.
Roy Zornes Jr., 23, James Baker, 41, and Angel Cassa, 19, now stand charged with first degree murder, first degree rape, first degree burglary and first degree arson.
According to court documents all three list Tishomingo addresses. And Authorities say Zornes was a foster child of Bullard for about three years.
Crime scene tape still surrounds Bullard's home, almost a week and a half after the killing.
According to charges filed by the DA's office, the trio broke into the house on Rock Creek Road through an unlocked door with the intent of burglarizing the home.
Prosecutors say the three raped Bullard, beat her to death and then set the house on fire.
A small memorial now stands beneath Bullard's mailbox to remember the longtime Johnston county resident and educator.
The district Attorney's office tells us the three suspects are scheduled to be in court on April 29th for their initial appearance.
The three remain in the Johnston county jail, and are being held without bond.
