Sunday Afternoon and Evening ... Scattered intense thunderstorms are expected, some severe. Large hail, high winds and the potential for isolated tornadoes will be the main threats. Locally heavy is rain also possible with these storms.
7-12-04 - Downtown merchants in Sherman are looking to city hall for help in giving the area a makeover.
More than a dozen business owners met with city council members Monday night, discussing ways to fix up decaying parts of the downtown area. Their goal is to bring shoppers back to downtown.
Areas of concerns are vacant buildings and torn up sidewalks, along with a lack of parking. Some business owners suggest a cosmetic makeover wth flowers, decorative lighting, and a speaker system.
This all started back in April when downtown business owners went to the city for help. Council members may take the ideas and then present them to the entire city council for funding.
