County Confiscates Horses Near Durant

7-21-04 - Two malnourished horses in Bryan County have been removed from their owners care, and charges of animal cruelty could be next.

It was a story First News brought you one week ago after two women had been bringing the horses water and food for weeks, in what appeared to be an abandoned field.

But as the women tried to arrange a rescue, men claiming to own the animals showed up and led them away to an even smaller pasture. But since then, Bryan County investigators have confiscated the horses and moved them to an undisclosed location. They’ve also finished a report and handed it to the Bryan County DA, which could then file charges.
