7-21-04 - A Pottsboro charity that’s been helping people in crisis for 8 years is now in need of help itself.
The Lakeway Resale Barn provides furniture for fire victims, medicine for seniors, and a fresh start for battered women – just to name a few, and they often do it free of charge. But last week, the owner of the property their barn sits on evicted the charity and sold the property, giving them a month and half to relocate and rebuild.
Women from the Lakeway Methodist Church established the Barn 8 years ago - an idea that was born out of garage sales. All of the funding comes from re-sales and donations, with every penny made going to charity.
In just the past six months, the barn's goodwill has helped over 500 people. They’re often folks who’ve been referred by the local Red Cross.
Although the Barn has purchased a piece of land, they have no building, nor the funds to build one.
If you’d like to help supply labor, building materials, or money, call the Resale Barn at 903-786-2402.
