7-23-04 - Construction is now complete on a new road near Dillingham school – news that means less congestion for parents and kids before and after class next month.

In the past, traffic outside the Sherman intermediate school was bumper to bumper as hundreds of cars funneled through one traffic light at Luther Knox and Gallagher streets. But a split project between the city and the school district connected Pecan Grove road to Calais street, which now gives drivers an alternative.

Pecan Grove road will be the primary route for the 22 school buses picking up students, while parents will access the school through Luther Knox.

The road opens on Monday.
