Teen Sentenced in Animal Cruelty Case

8-16-04 – A Bryan County teenager has been sentenced to six months at a prison facility for his part in a shocking case of animal cruelty. Investigators say 17 year old Cody Blevins of Armstrong and another man tied a chain around a family dog’s neck, strung the animal onto a tree limb, and then took turns beating the pet to death last month.

Blevins struck a plea agreement with the state and will serve six months in a “shock incarceration” program, similar to boot camp, at a facility in Lexington, Oklahoma.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for the other man accused in the crime. Eighteen year old David Wayne Wells will appear in a Bryan County courtroom in November.
