8-17-04 - Two different arson fires overnight in Ardmore are being blamed on juveniles – what firefighters call a growing trend recently.

The first fire happened off just before midnight off Maxwell Street, when a hay bale was set on fire. Within an hour, a few streets away off Mesa Road, someone set an abandoned house and a car on fire.

Authorities say the neighborhood has had problems with kids in the past. No one was hurt in the fires, but neighbors worry next time it could be much worse.

The fire department did find some evidence at the scene. If the firebug is caught they will face 3rd degree arson charges, which carries a fine up to $10,000 or up to 15 years in prison.
