The First Weather Team says there is potential for severe weather this afternoon and tonight. Large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are all possible. In the event of severe weather, we'll be posting real time information, your photos and videos, and links to live video feeds in the field, as we did last week.

Here's the latest from chief meteorologist Steve LaNore...

Moderate to High Risk of Severe Through Tonight
1:30pm Wednesday 19 May 2010

The potential for a major severe weather event is in the cards for this evening and into the night. Most of Texoma is in a moderate risk according to the Storm Prediction Center (SPC), with northern areas Pontotoc and Coal Counties in a high risk zone. The situation is not identical to May 10, but quite similar so this is shaping up to be another dangerous weather day.

The storms will initially be Supercells with huge hail, damaging wind and tornadoes; this will transition into a squall line as we move later into the nights with less of a tornado threat but continued high wind and hail threat. An additional problem develops with the potential for heavy rainfall, especially east of I-35, late tonight and Thursday as the upper low slowly moves by to the north.

After the upper trough passes, a ridge is forecast to develop aloft and provide a period of stable weather. A windy, warm and humid weekend is expected.

Here are the numbers:

Tonight: 80% Storms, Severe Potential Moderate to High.…..61-67
Thursday: 70% Rain, Possibly Heavy…..Highs 78-83
Friday: Partly Cloudy….65/88
Saturday: Partly Cloudy, Windy….70/90
Sunday: Partly Cloudy, Windy.…..72/90
Monday: Partly Cloudy, Windy…..72/88
Tuesday: Partly Cloudy, Windy….. 72/88
Wednesday: Partly Cloudy, Windy…..72/88

Stay tuned to KXII for both broadcast and web updates as we monitor this evolving severe weather episode.
