Bogus check writer arrested

ARDMORE, Okla. -- A high tech thief was jailed after police say they caught him using a stolen credit card. Donovan Ray Heffron, 36, was arrested last week.

Authorities say Heffron was using a stolen ID and credit cards belonging to a Dallas resident.

Heffron then created bogus checks using the alias 'Kelly Stevens' on his computer and used them from Oklahoma City to Dallas.

"There's all kinds of ways to recognize a fraudulent check. We're asking the public for the belp because we don't know how many he wrote, so if you did accept a check from a Kelly Stevens please give us a call," said Lieutenant Eric Hamblin with the Ardmore Police.

Ardmore Police say they've received three reports of fake checks in the area, and they encourage other business owners who may have been affected to come forward.
