BELLS, TX - After the resignation of half a dozen city officials last month the city of Bells has been without several key leaders. On Tuesday night council members answered citizens questions, appointed a temporary acting city secretary, and decided to hold a special meeting to appoint a new mayor.

The council determined that the position of municipal judge, city attorney, city secretary, and part time city secretary will be appointed by the council. They say any Bells resident can go before the council to be considered as mayor.

"There are several options. We can have a special election, we can appoint the next person on the list, we can appoint anybody who is a registered voter withinin the city who was eligible to vote in the last election, we can appoint that person to be the mayor," explained mayor pro tem Tim Gann.
