Prison Abuse Scandal - Local Connection

Video will be available shortly.

8-23-04 - As the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal was shaking the US military, a Grayson County prosecutor was one of the people helping to repair the Army’s image, helping prosecute the soldiers at the center of the scandal.

Kyson Johnson returned to his civilian job as an assistant Grayson County prosecutor on Monday. Up until 3 months ago, he was making history as co-prosecutor of Jeremy Sivits, the initial soldier charged in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal.

Johnson is in the Army Reserves, and took part in 18 months of service as a JAG prosecutor.

Johnson says Sivits and others like him gave the military a black eye, and deserve the punishment they have and will receive.
