Man Convicted for Deadly Prank

8-26-04 - DENTON, Texas (AP) An oil worker has been convicted of manslaughter in the death of another young oil-rig worker at a Denton County oil rig.

A Denton County jury Wednesday found 38 year old Louis Goodman of Ponder guilty in the death of 23 year old Shawn Davis.

Prosecutors say Davis was dragged face first through a metal door in a hazing incident at the rig where Goodman was a supervisor. Davis had been on the job for less than a week before his death.

Deliberations on Goodman's punishment begin Thursday. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
