DURANT, OK-- One man is in critical condition after a hit and run, but police say it doesn't appear to be an accident. Officers are looking to question one man they say intentionally ran over another man, late Saturday night.

"We are looking for an individual, Carlos Paniagua Jr.," Sgt. Rocky McDaniel, with the Durant Police Department, said.

Police are hoping 20-year-old, Carlos Paniagua Jr. will come forward with information about the incident.

"The suspect fled, in the vehicle, that was involved in it. The victim was left at scene and transported to MCSO," Sgt. McDaniel, said.

Police say witnesses described a hit and run where two people inside a green Chevy pick-up truck drove into a man in the road, near the 300 block of East Cedar in Durant.

"Once I realized what was going on, I grabbed an aid bag, that I had; being in the Army. I went over to assist the guy that had been run over," neighbor and witness, Duston Heflin, said.

That guy, was Joshua Gibson. Shown here with his new baby, born just one week ago.

Police believe Paniagua knew Gibson, and say there was a group of people gathered at the park before the incident occur ed.

One neighbor was just arriving home around 10:45 Saturday night and tried to help Gibson before paramedics arrived.

"He was attempting to get up, and a few of his friends, were trying to hold him down and keep him calm," Flin, said. "When I came up, all I could really see was on his left side, he had some scrapes and bruises, and on the back of his head, he had a cut."

After police arrived on the scene, they searched for the pick-up truck.
It was later found in the Durant Wal-Mart parking lot, early Sunday morning.

Members of Gibson's family say he is recovering at the Medical Center of Plano, and suffered bleeding to his brain, and multiple internal injuries.

Investigators say, he was last listed in critical condition.

20-year-old Carlos Paniagua Jr. is no stranger to the justice system, and is wanted for questioning by Durant Police.

Authorities describe him as a Caucasian man, weighing approximately 200 pounds, and close to six feet tall.

If you have any information about Paniagua's whereabouts, you're asked to call the Durant Police Department at 580-934-3737.
