Highway 70 shut down after two car accident

BRYAN CO., OK-- A two vehicle accident east of Durant sent five people to the hospital around 3pm, Sunday.
The accident happened on highway 70.
Authorities say a PT Cruiser failed to stop behind a Mercury Grand Marquis as it was attempting to make a left turn onto Lone Oak Road.
Both directions of the highway were shut down for nearly an hour as crews assisted the five people who all complained of head injuries.
Troopers say driver error most likely caused the wreck, but add they've responded to several accidents along this part of the roadway before.
“We have had quite a few accidents on this road in the last year. We've had a couple of fatalities. We’re not sure what the cause of it is, but most of the time it's something going on in the cab of the car and the drivers aren't paying attention," Lt. Scott Hampton with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, said.
Authorities expect all five people to make a full recovery.
