BONHAM, TX—More questions than answers remain surrounding the suspension of Bonham Fire Chief Bill Palya. Palya was placed on paid administrative leave in May 2010.

Bonham city manager Corby Alexander told KXII on Tuesday morning that Palya is still employed with the city, but remains on paid leave due to an ongoing investigation involving the Texas Rangers. In an e-mail response to KXII, Alexander says that the investigation is in the hands of the Texas Rangers who are working with the Fannin County District Attorney’s Office. Alexander says he has been asked by the Texas Rangers not to discuss the allegations against Palya.

"The Texas Rangers have taken the lead in this investigation. I have been given clear directions from the Rangers to not discuss the nature of the allegations. I do know that the investigation/case is being coordinated between the Rangers and the Fannin County Criminal District Attorney. Chief Palya is still employed with the City of Bonham and is on paid administrative leave."

-Corby Alexander, Bonham City Manager

Fannin County District Attorney Richard Glaser says the investigation into Bill Palya is ongoing.
