Relative Arrested in Murder of Elderly Couple

Video will be available shortly.

8-31-04 – Police have arrested the great-grandson of a murdered elderly couple in Reno. Christopher Cobb was taken into custody at around 10:30pm Monday at his parent’s home. They lived next door to Charley and Ruth Smith. A caretaker discovered the bodies of the couple, ages 88 and 89, in their Reno home, just east of Paris, Monday morning.

Police say they found cash inside the 21 year old man's room - money they believe was stolen from the Smith's home. They also found drugs and bloody clothing. Cobb later confessed to killing his great-grand parents.

He has been charged with one count of capital murder, authorities say he will be charged in the second murder later.
