ARDMORE, OK - Police have identified the man who died after a shooting early Tuesday morning as 29-year-old Michael Bradford Sloan of Ardmore, but say they have yet to determine exactly where, when, and why he was shot.

Police say Sloan was found stumbling along the 200 block of 9th Street Northwest around 1:30 Tuesday morning by a woman and her friend.

"He asked her a question, if he was bleeding or if he was shot," says the witness, who spoke to us, but didn't want to show her face on camera. She says the man was gasping for air as he asked her and her friend for help.

"He was trying to hold onto her car and he just fell back and hit the pavement like real hard, and we heard it hit," the witness says.

"The subject didn't have any identification on him, so we don't know who he was," Sgt. Ruben Garcia of the Ardmore Police Department said Tuesday. Police released the victim's name to the media Wednesday afternoon.

Sloan was taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital were he was pronounced dead around 2 a.m. Sgt. Garcia says police are still trying to find out where and why the shooting took place.

"Our investigators are working at this time to try to do that and to try to locate a suspect," Garcia says.

But to do that they say they need the public's help. In the meantime this area resident says she'll be locking her door and keeping a close watch on her neighborhood.

"The park is already scary, but this never happens."

If you have any information, call Ardmore Police at 580-223-1212.
