Growing Schools Equal Tough Moves

Video will be available shortly.

9-1-04 - The growing Ardmore school district is bringing new attention to the state of the district’s elementary schools, and causing some students to be transferred at the last minute.

As final enrollment numbers were tallied at the start of class last month, 84 more students were attending classes. That forced some students to be transferred across town.

School officials say its another example of why they needed a school bond that failed last year. The bond would have consolidated all the elementary schools and closed down Lincoln and Franklin schools.

School leaders say they have to transfer students to balance out class sizes and student to teacher ratios. But they fear it costs a stable environment for the kids.

The district does plan to take the issue back to the public within a year.
