ADA, OK - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death of an inmate in the Ada city jail Wednesday night.

Public Information Officer Mark Bratcher says a 42-year-old inmate from Anadarko was booked into the jail last night just after 6 for driving under the influence. Bratcher says the man was put in a cell by himself, but when prison guards checked on the man around 11 p.m. he had apparently hanged himself with his shirt.

"Because of the unusual nature of this, Ada Police Chief Mike Miller has requested that OSBI investigate, and they have agreed to do that," Bratcher says.

Bratcher says the Oklahoma State Jail Inspectors will also be investigating the incident.
