Russian Forces Storm School

9-03-04 - BESLAN, Russia (AP) There are reports of more than 100 dead after commandos stormed a school in southern Russia. Russian forces raided the school to free hundreds of hostages being held by separatist rebels.

The Interfax news agency says the bodies of more than 100 hostages have been found in the school gym. A cameraman for the British network ITN also reported seeing about 100 bodies.

Earlier, Interfax reported that dozens were killed when the school's roof collapsed amid explosions.

It's not clear how many hostages escaped. Many were wounded. Crying children were seen fleeing through explosions and gunfire.
