9-4-04- A tragic start to the holiday weekend for an Ardmore family. 57 year old Anita John was killed when the vehicle she was driving crossed the center line, over-corrected and went into a broad slide. John was pronounced dead on the scene.
The accident happened off of Highway 142 in front of the Velero Refinery early Saturday morning. The passenger in the car was thrown from the vehicle and taken to the hospital.
John was pinned inside the car and died at the scene with massive head injuries. Police say neither person was wearing a seat belt and alcohol and speed were both factors.
