WHITESBORO, TX -- A local fire department is about to receive a big boost to their budget. The Whitesboro Volunteer Fire Department learned Monday, they're getting more than $50,000 from FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security.

The grant funds are to outfit the station with an exhaust removal system.

A filtration pipe will be fitted to the exhaust of each engine or brush truck, so firefighters can run the vehicles inside the station to do maintenance checks without sending dangerous fumes into the air.

Members of the department say the system will hopefully be installed in about three months.
