A Grayson Co. judge retires after 44 years of service

DENISON, TEXAS -- After more than four decades of service to Grayson County, Judge James Harris of Denison is retiring.

He is most recently serving as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2, but will leave office Friday.

At this morning's Commissioners Court, commissioners honored Judge Harris with a proclamation.

Judge Drue Bynum recalled how Harris has run for re-election five different times, making him one of the longest working public servicemen in the county.

"In this position as Justice of the Peace you get to do a little more hands on helping people and you get to take a little more time talking to people and you can find ways to help them," Judge Harris said.

Judge Harris says he has enjoyed helping people throughout his career in law enforcement and as Justice of the Peace.
