Battle of the Badges blood drive winner takes home trophy

SHERMAN, TX -- The winner of the Seventh Annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive took home the trophy Friday. Texoma Regional Blood Center congratulated the Sherman Police Department on their victory.

The center saw more than 130 people come out to donate this year and Captain Ken Francis says it's not just about the friendly competition.

"The bottom line is the good that it does for the community and those people who are in need. And that’s what police and fire are all about. We are civil servants and we believe in service and serving our community," said Francis.

According to the center, every unit of blood collected translates into three saved lives. If you missed out on Thursday, the city of Denison will hold its first annual blood drive on July 27th.
