"My children both played at Homer all through the years," said Renee Nail, whose family grew up playing sports in Ada.

But the city wants to offer more options for families like hers in a proposed $4 million dollar sports complex. And they're letting citizens pitch them ideas through a survey.

"There's a lot of teams that travel to Oklahoma City and Shawnee and other places to catch good tournaments and I think to bring that business to Ada would be a wonderful idea," said Nail.

Opinions like Nail's are what the city is looking for. They've sent surveys to 3,000 households and also posted the link to their Facebook page and official website. So far they've received nearly 200 responses, but Russ Allen-- the chairman of the sports complex committee- would like to see more.

"We're actually looking for about 300 survey responses, which would get the statistically valid area between 4 and 5 percent," said Allen.

Allen adds that the survey asks people what they want to see in a new complex-- whether it's sports fields, walking trails or playgrounds. An outside company will tabulate the survey results in a few weeks, and the planning will be underway followed by the purchase of the land and construction thereafter.

"We've still got a ways to go but hopefully we'll get started soon," said Allen.
