ADA, OK - After 15 years on the job, council members say Ada's city manager has handed in his resignation.
The agenda for a special meeting Thursday stated that the council would discuss possibly firing David Hathcoat.
After nearly an hour in executive session, council members told the public Hathcoat had turned in a resignation letter, but that they could not immediately consider it because it was not on the agenda.
"It's a personnel issue. We can't comment," Mayor Dick Scalf said. Hathcoat and other council members also refused to comment.
"We have a mayor who has worked his way into office and does not like the city manager," former mayor Roger Cupps said. "He's made it clear from the beginning he does not and he wants him out of office."
Cupps said that Hathcoat and Scalf disagree over building a new lake called Scissortail Lake to serve city water customers.
Two years ago, council members ordered Hathcoat to account for his time when he was reportedly caught on video at a casino during working hours.
They will decide whether to accept his resignation at a meeting on Monday at 5 p.m.
