America Recycles Day comes to Ardmore

Ardmore residents had the chance today to help the earth and clear out clutter.

Today Citizens Bank and Trust Company teamed up with the Ardmore Beautification Council to host an event for America Recycles Day. People could bring three boxes of private papers to be shredded in the Bank parking lot. An e-waste program also accepted old electronics for recycling.

Citizens Bank and Trust marketing associate Teresa Woehst said for them it's about education.

"We just like to educate the public on the importance of recycling," said Woehst. "We feel like it's very important, we don't want to be filling up landfills with things we can recycle."

The Ardmore Beautification Council expects to collect 92 to 96 thousand pounds of paper.
