The Ardmore NAACP hosted their first ever Juneteenth celebration Saturday.
The celebration of freedom for African Americans began at 11 in the morning in Whittington park..
Activities included a barbecue cookoff and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
Blues, jazz and gospel music were part of the entertainment.
Ardmore NAACP president Elizabeth Williams said the celebration includes everyone.
"This is about unity, it's about togetherness, and about having a great time," said Williams. '
Williams adds that they plan to make this an annual event.
