This afternoon folks in Ardmore hit the ground running for a good cause.

Ardmore Relay for Life held it's community kickoff at the Ardmore Public Library.

Organizers hope to raise $75,000 dollars in Ardmore alone. That money will go toward cancer prevention research, wigs, and rides to doctor appointments.

The event organizer wants this kickoff to help get people motivated for the relay and the cause.

"Try to get people excited about relay and raising money and letting them know it's going to be easy, it's going to be fun and it's a great event to support," said organizer Kelly Fryer.

The actual Ardmore Relay for Life event will be held in June.
