Ardmore graffiti suspects caught on camera

ARDMORE, OK -- He noticed the graffiti on the back and sides of his store Tuesday, and when he checked his security camera footage realized he'd caught the suspect on camera.

"There was graffiti all over the walls and even on the trash dumpster behind me here," said Gordon Stellpflug, who manages the Little Caesars on Commerce Street.

He noticed the graffiti on the back and sides of his store Tuesday, and when he checked his security camera footage realized he'd caught the suspect on camera.

"We heard that morning they got to several businesses in this area," he added.

Police said early Tuesday morning the suspects marked 6 businesses with graffiti in the northwest part of town between the 1600 block of North Commerce and the 400 block of 12 Street NW.

Right now Ardmore police have 2 suspects in mind--specifically, the two people on the security video writing letters and numbers on fences, dumpsters and the backs of buildings.
Kathy Boyd lives in the area and wonders if this could be just the tip of the iceberg.

"I don't really care for it, and it kind of tells me maybe there's gang relations going around in town," said Boyd

But APD said that while the symbols look like gang signs, they're not jumping to conclusions and are treating the graffiti for what it is: vandalism.

"Our business hasn't been impacted, I'm just glad they washed most of it off, or spray-powered it off real quick," Stellpflug said.

But some residents want justice.

"They need to catch the people that are doing it because they're damaging the property that people own and it just doesn't look good," Boyd said.
