Atoka man convicted in former coworker's stabbing death

Mitchell Craver was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted with the first degree murder of Alan Oliver.

Craver entered a no-contest plea, accepting the plea deal offered by the the district attorney's office.

In Oklahoma, a life sentence is equal to 45 years. Craver is eligible for parole after serving 38-and-a-half years.

Craver stabbed Alan Oliver back in August. He then drove Oliver's van behind the Atoka High School football field and set the van and body on fire.

Assistant District Attorney Greg Jenkins said he talked to Oliver's family before offering Craver the plea. He said they were satisfied with deal.

Jenkins said it's unusual for a first degree murder case to move this quickly.

"I think justice was done by this case, and it also gives closure to the family that this case isn't going to drag on for a while," he said. "And he is going to be in the penitentiary for at least the next 38 years at least."
