ATOKA, OK-The city of Atoka will start spraying for mosquitoes next Thursday.

City Manager, Don Walker, said the council made the unanimous decision Tuesday night after a case of West Nile was recently confirmed in the city. Walker said they'll notify residents by phone and media outlets where they'll begin spraying. He said they'll try to hit different parts of the city three times a week and it could last through October.

The state of Oklahoma has seen a record 118 cases and seven deaths so far this year. Texas reported 800 infections and 22 deaths.
