Alleged burglars crash, manhunt ensues near Bells

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Several law enforcement agencies searched for three burglary suspects much of Monday in southeastern Grayson County.

On Monday, authorities searched by air and on the ground off Crews Road near Bells. The subject of the search were three men allegedly caught by a local resident trying to steal a gas pump from private property.

"When they observed the resident, they got in a truck and took off," said David Russell from the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.

Neighbors we spoke with say the suspects' authorities were searching for on Monday were traveling eastbound on Crews Road when the truck they were driving crashed.

Grayson County Sheriff's Sergeant David Russell says after the men crashed, they ran off.

The first suspect was attacked by a dog, apprehended and sent to the hospital. The second suspect was captured a few hours later, but the search continued for the third.

Russell says no one other than the first suspect was hurt.

"We had no reason to believe the men were armed or dangerous," said Russell.

Bill Hooten leases the land behind where the crash took place.

"It's pretty crazy in this part of the neighborhood. Things like this just don't happen around here," said Hooten.

Authorities are not releasing the names of any of the suspects and will not until they've been arraigned.

Russell says all three face pending charges but would not elaborate further.
