Woman killed in Bells accident

BELLS, TX - A Bells woman is dead after her car was broadsided by a pickup Wednesday afternoon.

Police Chief Scott Barrett said the woman driving the car was trying to turn left from Hwy 56 into the First National Bank when a truck hit the side of her car.

The woman's name is not being released, but Barrett says she is in her 50's.

Police are still investigating who was at fault in the accident.

Barrett says the truck driver is in his 20's and is not from the area.

"The driver of the truck is ok, he got checked out by the EMS medical staff," he said. "He appears to be ok, shook up obviously, but he's ok."

No other passengers were involved.

Barrett said it appears both drivers were wearing seat belts.
