PARIS, TX-- Paris Police say the body of a Paris man, who's been missing for three weeks, has been found in Red River County.
The Texas Rangers contacted the Paris Police Department Wednesday night after the Red River County Sheriff's Office received a tip that a body had been found near a creek off FM 195.
Based on tattoo descriptions, authorities believe it's the body of 29-year-old Troy Gray, Jr.
"The deceased person was sent over to the Dallas area for a forensic examine and positive ID so we'll know then," said Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley. "But we're pretty sure that's who it is."
Gray was last seen at his Paris home around 2 A.M. on April 11th. Hours later a Lamar County Sheriff's deputy found Gray's vehicle burning on a county road.
Detectives and the Texas Rangers met with Troy's family late Wednesday night. Paris Police say they are continuing to follow up on leads, but no arrests have been made in the case.
"You don't find that somebody has a car burned and missing for three weeks and then found deceased," said Hundley. "We are anticipating that foul play is going to be involved."
Hundley says the case is now a joint investigation between several agencies.
"The car was originally found in Lamar County, the missing person was last seen here in the city of Paris and the body was found in Red River County."
The private investigator Gray's family hired says he will stay on the case to help put whoever is responsible for this crime behind bars.
"There's answers that need to be found as far as what happened to Troy," said Chuck Foreman. "So I'll work with the family to work with law enforcement to try to discover them."
