DURANT, OK -- It's been a long time coming, but the Boys and Girls Club of Durant will finally open it's doors Wednesday morning.

More than 20 kids are signed up, but there are plenty of spots available.
The doors open at 8 a.m. You can go by and enroll your child, or you can go sign up to volunteer.

The non profit has been in the works for three years and many are glad children will have a safe place to go after school.

"Parents are excited. Kids are excited. We're hearing from parents that they've just been, they've been financially strapped. They want their kids to have a safe place to be after school and they want them to have fun, but they can't afford $70 a week for daycare or after school care, and school age kids don't really need to be in daycare," Executive Director, Barbara Dunnam said.
