Bryan Co. jail progressing ahead of schedule

With the new Bryan County jail annex halfway complete, the jail has become a permanent agenda item at commissioner meetings.

Monty Montgomery, county commissioner, said they want to keep options open for new proposals from the architect.

They discussed bids for an outside fence and sidewalk drains at this week's meeting.

Monty said workers are currently installing plumbing and electrical work.

The project is ahead of schedule, he said.

"And we're really pleased about the progress," he said. "We didn't lose any days to weather days, and we won't after this point, because again, we're dried in."

Monty said the project should be completed in early January. He expects to be moved in by early February.
