Bryan County Commissioner stepping down as chairman

BRYAN COUNTY, OK - Bryan County Commissioner Monty Montgomery is stepping down as chairman of the board of commissioners this week.

He says he made the decision after commissioners voted not to reduce the jail budget.

Montgomery says they had promised voters they'd reduce the budget if they passed a sales tax to fund construction.

He'll continue to serve as a commissioner for the remaining 2 years of his term.

He says he won't seek re-election but that decision is un-related to the jail budget.
