Calera man sentenced for his role in theft of cemetery vases

SHERMAN, TX -- A Calera man has been sentenced to 10 years probation for his role in stealing bronze vases from a Sherman cemetery.

Jett McCarson pleaded guilty to theft of property under $100,000 dollars.

He also pleaded guilty to burglary of a building and sentenced to four years probation for that offense.

Sherman police say they found 31 vases inside a vehicle owned by McCarson.

They say those were among 100 vases stolen from Cedar Lawn Cemetery since last August.

Two accomplices also pleaded guilty to theft of property from a grave.

Amber Ailey will serve 7 seven years probation, and Darell Rumfelt will serve 7 years in prison.
