ARDMORE, OK - Charges have been filed for two people in connection with a scammer who had been posing as a Carter County deputy.
Carter County Sheriff Milton Anthony says an inmate and a correctional officer have been charged for attempting to scam people via phone from a jail in Georgia.
Anthony says they had received several reports from residents who say a man called them claiming to be a deputy. telling them to buy a Green Dot card to send money or else he'd get a warrant for their arrest.
Anthony says a real deputy would never call and ask for money, and the Secret Service has taken over the investigation.
