GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Several Texoma city councils including Sherman and Pottsboro will vote on resolutions Monday evening to nominate a candidate for the vacant federal judge position.

The Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas has been without a federal judge for seven years.

During that time judges in Beaumont have traveled to the Sherman federal courthouse to help perform the job.

The judge vacancy has been declared a judicial emergency and has left the division with the highest weighted caseload in the United States.

Federal Magistrate Judge Amos Mazzant and 15th District Judge Jim Fallon, both of Grayson County are applying for the position.
