COLBERT, OK -- A new partnership between Oklahoma and the Choctaw Nations looks to save the state money while promoting tourism along the Red River.

The Choctaw Nation held a celebration Friday to announce they're taking over management of the Colbert Travel Information Center.

Under the deal the Tribe will maintain the center for the next five years saving the state $900,000 dollars.

Assistant Chief Gary Batton says they plan to host future events as a way to promote the Choctaw Culture.

Assistant Chief Gary Batton said, "Most people when they think of Texas and Oklahoma, they do want to see the cowboys and indians, so it's great to see that culture come to life and people love seeing it."

In addition to management, the Choctaw Nation recently spent around $400,000 dollars to renovate the facility.
