GAINESVILLE, TX -- The Cooke County Courthouse will soon see law enforcement presence.

During today's commissioners meeting, county commissioners voted to fund a full-time, off-duty deputy. The deputy will be on site during the courthouse's businesses hours.

County Judge John Roane says commissioners are working to add security measures after recent events in Texas and across the U.S. They will now work with the Sheriff to get a plan and price put in place.

"These measures are also for essentially anybody that comes into the courthouse. Jurors, people coming to do just their typical daily duty, anyone is susceptible to violence if it occurs at this location," Judge Roane said.

County commissioners will discuss further security measures next month, in executive session.
