Cowboys stadium to host memorial for slain Navy SEAL

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - A memorial is planned for Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas for the former Navy SEAL sniper and author shot dead at a rural firing range.

The public memorial service for "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle is set for Monday at the North Texas stadium.

The 38-year-old former Navy SEAL is reputed to have been the deadliest sniper in American military history. He and 35-year-old friend Chad Littlefield were killed Saturday afternoon at the firing range at the Rough Creek Lodge in Glen Rose.

A 25-year-old Iraq War veteran is accused of killing the pair. Former U.S. Marine Eddie Routh is charged with one capital murder count and two of murder. He remains at the Erath County Jail in Stephenville with bond set at $3 million.

His attorney has said he will ask for a court-appointed psychiatrist to determine if Routh is competent to stand trial.
