DENISON, TX -- Hundreds of Denison students, teachers and residents joined together this evening to help one of their own.
Denison ISD students and staff participated in a talent show for high school student Nick Casarez.
In January, Casarez suffered sudden and severe bleeding in his brain and had to undergo surgery. He is in daily rehabilitation, friends say he is working to re-gain his speech and use of one side of his body. Casarez was involved in theater, so friends and teachers say they organized something he'd love. All money raised is going toward his medical bills.
"A talented and as fun-loving as Nick is, it doesn't surprise me that there's a lot of people supporting that. I mean, this kid had everything going for him," friend Brandon Langston said.
If you'd like to help with Nick's medical bills you can take donations to the DHS office and make checks payable to DISD "Nickels for Nick".
