Day 2 of Paris' Citizen's Fire Academy

PARIS, TX-- Day 2 of the citizen's fire academy was held Thursday night where firefighters answered common questions many residents have about the fire trucks, including why do fire trucks go to minor and major car wrecks?

"It's a lot better to have a 30 ton vehicle blocking traffic," said Captain Jay Daughtrey. "Where as compared to a police car or an ambulance, it just gives that much more protection to the public and the emergency personnel working the scene."

The now 13 participants received a little history lesson about fire trucks before seeing the different tools and equipment the trucks have.

They were also shown the departments ladder truck with a 105 foot ladder that, Captain Jay Daughtrey says, is an asset to the city and the county.
