Demolition begins on collapsed historic Ardmore building

ARDMORE, OK - Demolition began this afternoon on the historic building in downtown Ardmore that partially collapsed.

The demolition contractor said they plan to continue taking the building down over the weekend.

The front of the historic building fell Wednesday when a driver crashed his pickup truck into a load-bearing support beam.

No injuries were reported.

The owner of that demolition company explains the process.

"We'll knock it all down and then the brick, they want to preserve as much brick as possible so we'll take that to a separate location and everything else goes to the landfill," said Paige Punneo, owner of Punneo's Service Inc.

Ardmore Development Services said Broadway and Washington Streets will remain closed until demolition is complete.

The company said it could take four or five days to demolish the building.
